Oyster Perpetual Day-Date

The materialization of an ideal

When midnight strikes, the Oyster Perpetual Day-Date creates a bridge between the past and the future, between what has been achieved and what remains to be lived. Since 1956, it has been bearing witness to the great moments of history on the wrist of visionaries, virtuosos and pioneers. Those who make each day a promise for the future.

Day-date: the materialization of an ideal
When it saw the light of day in 1956, the Day Date was a major innovation as the first wristwatch with a calendar to display, in addition to the date, the day of the week in full letters in an arched window at the 12 o’clock position, a real technical feat for the time.

Made exclusively in precious metal – 18-karat yellow, white or Everose gold or 950 platinum – along with its iconic President bracelet, its multiple dials make it the perfect canvas for personal expression.

When midnight arrives, the date and day change simultaneously in their respective dial windows. This watchmaking feat, the “midnight miracle”, is based on a disk mechanism. It is the result of many years of research: from 1950 to 1955 Rolex registered four patents for watches with day and date displays.

Today, the Day Date is equipped with caliber 3255, a new generation movement, entirely developed and manufactured by Rolex to guarantee superlative performance.

The President bracelet

Created especially for the launch of the prestigious Oyster Perpetual Day Date in 1956, the three-element President bracelet, made exclusively in 18-carat gold or 950 platinum, is still reserved today for the Day Date, as well as the Datejust in precious metal.

Political personalities, leaders and visionaries from all over the world have worn a Day-Date on their wrists throughout history, a model that is immediately recognizable, mainly thanks to its emblematic President bracelet. A premonitory name that, added to the stature of the personalities who have worn it, has earned the Day-Date its nickname: the “watch of the presidents”.
